Analog film photography and cameras

I had an ME that ate films. It'd randomly jam up, tear sprocket holes, over-wind etc. I've heard of a few others doing similar so might be a common problem (maybe with an easy fix? I just sold mine on).

Point B. seems relevent tot his problem. If getting the cover off looks easy I might open it up later and have a look. Failing that I might just try another film and see how it goes.

The film that had the problem with overwinding was the first one the camera had used in about 15 years, so maybe the mechanism was just a bit seized up through lack of use.
