  • Rotary Rocket Ron Haslam in the middle of the first photo?

  • Him, Joey Dunlop and another big name that escapes me.

  • ooooooooh......Joey and Hizzy on the factory RVFs. Beautiful bikes.

  • Used to see Ron race regularly at Brands when I was a kid. I thought a Spitfire was coming along but it was him on a Norton.

  • ooooooooh... RVFs. Beautiful bikes.

    Indeed, so here's another sunshine.

  • it sounds great , will you get through the MOT with it being that loud?

That's the stock exhust... I've tuned it up abit and it's slightly quieter now. I do plan to put some slash cut pipes on it through but will keep the stock for mot time.

  • Can we please remember what is happening this week!

This is a fucking great little vid of how tro pin it!

    embed you mother fucker!

    That's a beautiful vid Piles.

Fucking rain seems to be messing up proceedings.

  • Nope. (not unless he's won one today...)

2nd is his best result. Retired from a couple while leading, too.

Poor sod. On a related note if anyone's got an Xbox with an internet connection TT3D: Closer to the Edge is available on Lovefilm

  • No plastic modern stuff unless italian...booooo

i think its more the presumed attitude that he's trying to detract.

it should be a nice chilled out day.

you should do it if you can.

  • Who is everyone insured with? It's coming up to re-insurance time for my Harley and everyone I am talking to is taking the piss.

    Year 1 - £225
    Year 2 - £454
    Year 3 - £594

And it's going up from here. I'm not best pleased! I've got no-claims since 2006 to bargain with but no-one is having it. Fucking shocking.

  • Mecha - try Adrian Flux. I pay just under 300, fully comp on a GSXR1000.

That said, all insurers try and put up their premiums every year. You need to shop around a bit, knock off another 10% and take it back to your original guys to match.

    Rodents.

  • This is what I posted when I renewed in Jan: -

*Obviously shopping around for insurance makes sense, but just had a result for renewing next week. Been with the same insurer for 10 years, always been competitive, but price hiked in the renewal quote to £359. Looked around and got a like-for-like quote with Motorcycle Direct for £163 (including tax) on my Ducati: fully comp, £400 excess, protected no claims (on 9 years ncb), 30 days European cover, covered for pillions, legal cover, key cover, 3000 annual mileage - based on the bike being kept on a private drive (but not garaged) in Brixton and/or Peckham. Result!

    How old are you, Mecha?

  • That's a beautiful vid Piles.

Fucking rain seems to be messing up proceedings.

Noah has just sat a new lap record, fucking biblical.

  • Finally got round to booking my theory test, cbt ran out a few years back and can't wait to get back on a bike.
Figure for me a intensive direct access course is the best option, thinking of getting a VFR400 (n30) or CBR400 (n29). Any other obvious options?

  • After many problems with many insurers due to my bike not fitting into their system I've now got insurance sorted out with Footman James, can thoroughly recommend them. When I started going through the shopping list of modifications they were totally unfazed. If you join an owners' club you can get some huge discounts. I managed fully comp, agreed value, unlimited mileage, 30 days European cover, £250 excess for £220 - really happy with that.

Am thinking about riding down to the Euro Kat meet this August, a sort of uber-anorak meet. My pride and joy:

  • jambon remember that with the intensive course once you have paid if you fail the first bit you lose what you paid for the second. just saying make sure you are ready/confident.

van uden thats a pretty motorcycle. what modifications did you make and do you ever get it wet?

  • Cheers coppiThat, I wasn't aware of that at all.

  • van uden thats a pretty motorcycle. what modifications did you make and do you ever get it wet?

    Thanks! List is:

    Braced frame, powder coated

    3 spoke wheels, powder coated

    Stainless hoses throughout

    Stainless fasteners throughout

    Nissin calipers 4pot, upgraded discs

    Upgraded forks, Hagon progressive springs

    Quantum piggy-back rear shocks

    Mikuni flat-slide RS34 carbs

    K&N filters

    Braced one-off swinging arm

One-off front mudguard (looks standard but has been 'shrunk' to hug a 17inch wheel, the old front wheels on these were 19inch!)

Power booster (Japanese tuning 'black box')

Stainless exhaust, one-off link pipe to stainless GP cans

Yoshimura rear-sets with pillion pegs (rare as hen's teeth)

    Seat recovered

    Ally under-tray, back-end tidy

Electrex reg/rec (standard ones are know for being moody)

    Earl's oil cooler, stainless lines

One-off ally sprocket cover overflow catch-tank

    One-off 'Lucky 7' crank cover

Think that's it! And no it doesn't really get wet, although saying that I am determined to ride down to the Euro Kat meet in Bordeaux on it so if it rains it rains!

  • thats an big list. good to know they didnt pick holes in it and bump up the insurance price.

have 'untitled motorcycles' been mentioned in this thread?

  • Quick nod to Hein Gericke at Stockwell. I was out on the bike on Sunday, having given the battery a quick charge over the weekend. I had no problems until I stopped for petrol on Clapham Road near the Oval and couldn't start the bike. Called the AA and the guy told me the battery was dead (no surprise it's quite old and hasn't been on an optimiser) and wasn't picking anything up off the alternator. He got me started and I headed off to Brixton, but the revs were all over the shop and I stalled with no chance of getting it started. So I wheeled it to Hein Gericke and arrive 15 minutes after they shut. The guy who was closing opened up again, let me wheel the bike through the shop to their lock-up at the back and leant me a cover. He's sorting me out a battery this week and will charge it for me, but says I'm welcome to leave the bike there until I'm ready to pick it up. Nice customer service, lovely bloke. Just thought I'd share.

  • Excellent.

  • ^^ Great service! Good to know as they're pretty local.

  • bravo hein gericke

  • I phoned him up to thank him and he just said "We're all bikers, aren't we?" I said, "You haven't met Gerald, have you?"
