One of this threads favourites:
Has lost its charm:
i will say it once more:
the st cutout is misaligned with the wheel.

yeah i think its the background now.
still, being able/having resources/talent to do this is quite awesome, and if not for this cutout I would. -

I know, i really wish i could just custom
shit(sounded strange) stuff, i would build myself the dream beater, ah well -
• #3190
I'd have a flat full of dream builds though! If I could do that, I'd never stop. I'd constantly be coming up with new ideas for improving things or wanting to go off in a different direction altogether!

• #3191
haha so so true. id be worried they'd collapse though
-
• #3192
See, I don't have that problem, oh I wonder if they'll collapse on me, but I have so little self preservation instinct that it doesn't even slow me down... it's a wonder I'm still alive really and probably for the best I can't weld. :P

this is how these ugly sanRensho frames come to life:)

^^ I feel the same about my builds. What I put them through proves them to be strong enough though

• #3195
Lol! I've learnt with me to over engineer everything, that way, if it breaks I've only myself to blame!
Would seriously love to learn to weld though. I have an empty garage ready and waiting. Am gonna wait till next month and attempt a DIY carbon wheel project though. Home made trispok! -

Would seriously love to learn to weld though. I have an empty garage ready and waiting. Am gonna wait till next month and attempt a DIY carbon wheel project though. Home made trispok!MIG welding is fairly easy and not too expensive. I have this - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/100e-mig-welder which is fine for up to 3mm thick steel. You then have to add the cost of a mask and gloves, auto darkening makes it much easier. Cheap masks are about £50.
MIG is fine if you're just going to be chopping up old 4130 frames (reynolds 501). If you want to go better and use stuff like 531 then you want brazing gear. It demands bigger gas bottles and the torch, hoses and regulators add up. Some people are saying that propane is a dirty gas to braze with when comparing to acetylene but it's more a case of different technique. Acetylene is pretty much unavailable in the Uk atm, there's news of users needing licences which is going to stop DIY users unless they have plenty of cash to spare. For bikes - MIG<Braze<TIG
