Wanted: Track frame to start a uni project

Hi Everyone,

 I have always been in to bikes ever since i was young just love the mechanics of themand how they work. For an art project for my first year uni project i havemanaged to convince my lecturer that bikes are beautiful and he is allowing meto build a fixie. I am looking for a frame i have a budget of £70. I would likea newer shaped frame with thicker tubes. Don’t mind about the paint work as am going to respray. I no am asking a lot for the money but any help would be appreciated.Thanks Paddy

you may find your budget more useful if you would also take a bike with horizontal dropouts, not just trackends

I don't think you'll find a modern style frame for £70 on here.
Maybe look at a cheapo Chinese alloy track Drake off ebay for about £130 Inc postage?

What are you studying at uni, out of interest?

I have an MTB frame with medium thick tubes that you can have for nowt if you come and get it from N4.

Thanks for the response much appreciated would be willing tolook at horizontal drop outs as well yeah. Will have a look at the ebay bikes but would prefer something with a bit more character tho. The response to this has been mad nice one. Am based in Stoke like the look of all them bikes but with been a student am on a tight budget 330 for the create bike is a bit out of my range. Yh sorrey that would be helpfull im 5 ft 11 was looking for 54 to 58 inch frame.Nice One Paddy

My recommendation to the OP is that if you want to demonstrate the beauty of a "track bike" then borrow a good one. Vintage style or modern, but something which really represents the epitome of whatever it is. Go to bike porn for inspiration.

You are never going to get something really beautiful for £70 so you will fail to make whatever point you are trying to.

i no its not track but £70 is not alot to work on

just thinking you could work with freecycle bits and spend more on a frame?
