• i did three peaks in 2005.. one long weekend, i was in the middle of jury service too.. so ended up getting the caledonian sleeper to fort william, while the others drove up the day before (friday).. this meant we set off a bit late in the day, it really needs to be crack of dawn stuff

climbed from the glen and back 5 hours.. 21deg C in the glen -5 deg C on the summit. the paths are steep and hard work esp descending strongly recommend walking sticks to aid

drive to wast water all afternoon, meant we climbed scarfell in the dark, and despite head torches the weather was grim to the summit and back down. i started halucinating on the decent.. the blurry lights from the nuclear station at st bees head floating in my sight..

arrived at pen-y-pass for the assault of snowdon via the pigs track 6hours.. done this tons of times before.. but the best way up on a single climb is via crib goch.. it is epic but not recommended for the 3 peaks

    so my tips
the driver must not do ANY of the climbing..
    go up the day before
keep your team as small as possible 3/4 ideal
hire a car with plenty of space for dozing resting
start as early as possible.. crack of dawn
aim for a weekend with a full moon
forget heading back down to sea level unless you really want the sea level to sea level in 24hr as stated in the rules

needless to say i made it back to court on monday and a guilty verdict passed (death by dangerous driving) on the tuesday, i recall London won the olympics for 2012 that day too.. and the 7/7 bombing the day after.. a strange week all told.
