After reading this topic and spoken to Tim, going to drop all I have for a custom frame.
gulp.
get in line

• #53
Oh is there's a line? did you tell Ryan that you called first dibs?

You'll be kicking yourself in years to come for not adding rear rack mounts in the first place. It can't hurt to have discreet ones there just in case surely?
Other than that it sounds like a pile of win. Will the mudguards be fabricated by Ryan and part of the frame or just designed around a nice pair? -

Not really, if I were to go touring, I got the Genesis Croix de Fer for that, and even thought it have mount for a rear rack, I tend to bikepack instead, I no longer have the need for panniers.

Will have to talk to Ryan more, chance are it'll be a Gilles Berthoud 'guard, he's quite keen on this project as he mentioned he's thinking of making himself a similar bike.

Greetings Ed and Sumo,
Oak-ay, I am chuffed to hear that you are now in the queue for a frame from Ryan.
One of the things I like about Ryan is that we decided on each bit of the frame over discussions rather than Ryan telling me what I wanted.... so the customer gets exactly what they want.
Over the tubing, I decided on 853 as I knew this would be the frame that sees me out of cycling, so if I had not gone for 853 and gone for something down a
notch or two, I would have only regretted it in years to come. I know there is a budget thing here, but I decided to blow mine and just save up a bit more to get
exactly what I wanted.
I wish you well with getting your dream bikes!!!
Peace and Love,

Greetings folks,
I passed by Ryan's workshop this week for a chat and to let him know how I was getting on, er which in short is brilliantly....
A couple of nice things to report.
Firstly I met the polo massive down there - TS, Emab and others on their way to the court, which was great to see them and chat stuff.
Secondly was a quote from Ryan whilst looking at my bike ' I cannot believe I made that bike, it looks so sweet'. Well Ryan you did make the bike and
you have made one Rasta man very happy to be riding around on such a beautiful bike!!!
Keep up the great work Ryan.
Peace and Love to one and all.....,
Tim -

apart from Oak (who by the sounds of things seem excellent), does anyone know any other London based custom frame builders?
-
• #59
Why not ask in the custom frame thread rather than ask about another company in someone's thread?

JAH Tim, I've just heard about your new bike. Looks marvellous. I've not been on my usual commute for a while, but I shall be looking out for you again. I hope you have many happy miles on it.

Bump after discussion in the UK frame builders thread.
Jayloo, you get yours?

Did I ever say how nice my forks were that Ryan made me? Plus he looks damn hot nekkid.

Here's my Oak polo bike, styled on one of the old Herne Hill grass polo bikes, totally hipster-tastic! 631, bendy seat tube, double plate fork crown, stealth paintjob with gloss decals... Best bike I've ever owned EVER!!! Thank you, Ryan... x

How fast can you push it?
-
• #66
how much did it cost you?

• #67
Ditto on the "best bike I've ever owned" comment from another happy Oak polo bike owner!

Greetings and love to each and everyone,
I have just taken delivery of my newly painted Gilles Berthoud mudguards on my Oak.
They have come out so sweet that I thought I should share them with you. Here is one of the front continuing the Ethiopian flag theme of the front fork.
The bike as a whole
The rear in white with a nice little Oak logo.
They just make it look so sweet.
Great work again Ryan - give thanks...
Peace and Love,
TimP.S. This is the first time I have managed to sort photos on here, so I have learned something today which is great.

Except they are shortcuts to your email attachments they need to be hosted somewhere imgur.com for example.
D

• #72
photobucket also a good place to host them and link it here.
You got it right, just the link location.
-
• #73
Or lfgss.com has almost perfect photo hosting.
-
• #74
Hello folks,
I have put them on lfgss and hopefully changed the links.
Apologies for lack of technical know how...
Thanks,
Tim -

They still only come out as very small pictures, Tim. Have you tried clicking on the little paperclip in the edit box and to upload them via the window that pops up there?
a faux pas surely?
