I had the Luganos initially and found them cheap and fine, as written above. Traded up to the Panaracers and find them nicer, but more money. IME they wear well and are good for around London and I will continue to buy them. If for you the cheaper the better, the Luganos. If you don't mind spending a little more, the Panaracers.

Have you tried the criteriums? My lady has the schwalbe blizzard sports (i think the lugano replaced them), and theyre actually really good for the price! I'm not sure I like the tread on the panaracers, seems like they would have quite a high rolling resistance.

paselas everytime

Deda Tre are nice if you want skinny, similar to Veloflex pave/master.
For touring widths, go Pasela...

But like adoubletap said, challenge!

I will sacrifice pints for tyres.... :(

Not knowing much about the manufacturing process of tyres, does anyone know why Michelin World Tours are so cheap?
I have them and they're fine. I don't think I've had one puncture in a year of using them. Is it because they're heavy?
-

If they are heavy they probably contain a thick layer of rubber so will avoid punctures as the things going through the tyre have to be longer, i.e. if your tyre had an inch of rubber on the tread you wouldn't get many punctures.
However people generally don't want tyres that heavy so compromises are made (an inch thick tread also wouldn't be supple so would not be comfortable and almost like riding a solid tyre I would imagine.) -

Yes. They are very nice.
I have also tried the luganos, which were fine, but the criteriums were nicer.
I think the paneraces are better for width.

+1 for Panaracer Paselas. I've got a pair of 700x23c on my Koga Miyata and they're great performers for the price.

Veloflex Records/Vittoria Evo SC. I've got the latter on my latest build. As far as aesthetics go, they look great. I haven't rode them yet so can't comment on durability and puncture resistance. Can't imagine they'd be too good for that. They're just going to be used on weekend rides though so should be good for that.

Looking to potentially get a set of the panaracer pasela tour guards in 23c over the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know how skid resistant they are? I very rarely skid(usually when I've had a couple of cans and am trying to show off) but I don't want a tyre that's going to rip itself to shreds if I do.

They're not good for skidding. But UTFS if you want more people saying basically the same.

Challenge Criterium on offer at the moment with PX.

Veloflex Pavé.
They look brilliant and ride even better. Despite being the thickness of silk and weighing about the same, I'm yet to puncture one in 6 months of commuting. Touch wood.
N.B. These aren't commuting tyres - it's like using an keirin bike to take the kids to school.

^ is there anything like the Challenge Criterium or the Veloflex Pavé in 25 or 28c? I've been trying to find some Grand Bois Cerf in those sizes but I can't find them anywhere!

Anyone got any good suggestions for cleaning gumwalls? My challenge criteriums are looking pretty tatty and I couldn't seem to get much of the dirt off when I washed the bike.

Looks like I'll be getting those Lugano's for now, until the Criterium's come back down!
