This Pinnarello was sold today. To me - on behalf of my delighted son. Having got the money out of the bank and arranged to pick up the bike tonight the vendor "Fieldcoil" says he has a higher offer and I have to match it as all his "deals are provisional" and as far as he is concerned it's acceptable on LFGSS.
Steve "Fieldcoil" ......... your word should be your bond.

I can appreciate that this sounds dodgy.
I had a few people interested in buying the bike over the last few days. scando was the first to get in touch and we agreed on a price, although as far as I was concerned, this was based on him viewing the bike i.e. provisional. When I received an offer (within an hour) for the full asking price, I gave scando a chance to match that as he had first dibs on the bike. He refused so I went with the higher offer. It's nothing personal, I just really need the money at the moment.
I've sold and bought on here over the last two years and have never had any problems. As I mentioned to scando, I am happy to settle any dispute through LFGSS.

Agreed price is the price. Soz.

No Fieldcoil, that isn't the basis for transactions on LFGSS.
If you agree to sell at a price, then that is the sale price.
Clearly, you have no honour, and your word is not binding. Such precedent means that there is little reason for anyone to trust you in a future transaction.
Which is why people should honour the the price that they agree to sell it at.

eBay is this way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In the next tab on your right. Listing and final price fees apply. So does a PayPal fee. -

Thanks for all the posts of support for my sons disappointment at being stiffed by Feildcoil.
I am glad there are many who feel that LFGSS has more soul than Feildcoil would have us believe.
Fieldcoil - you have read the rules of the classifieds and say you will settle the dispute through LFGSS forum.
Are you going to honour that, or is that another one of your "provisional" agreements?

It's a community forum not Asda.
It's completely understandable when people change their mind (for example wanted to sell the bike/part to cover some bills, but found the funds from another source), but driving the price up after the sale was agreed is quite sad. -

Fieldcoil may be desperate for cash right now- not an excuse but an explanation.
We don't know what the price difference between offer and asking price was- if it was (say) £200 and you need that to pay the rent...

It doesn't cost anything to explain that to the potential buyer.

I appreciate why the above comments have been made. Some seemed a little harsh, but I can understand the frustration and even the mildly sadistic text I received from scando, gloating at me being publicly berated. I realise that I messed up with this sale and it's not something that will happen again (obviously I don’t expect anyone to take my word for it).
I also acknowledge that my problems are my own and for that reason I didn't impart them on the buyer - not an excuse, I’m just saying.
In the broader context of things, I handled the sale of the bike badly, which left a potential buyer pissed off and I sent my apologies for this. I’m not sure what else I can do.
Unfortunately I'd only be interested in the frame so no worries there. Good luck with the sale!
