• Doing laps of Regent's Park after work this evening and rode past a large group of people (all cyclists as far as I could tell, no sign that a vehicle was involved unless it had neglected to stop) standing around a downed rider a hundred metres or so up from the junction at the SE corner. Time must've been about 6:45. Ambulance had arrived by the time I passed again, and was still there on the next lap although the person had been moved into the back of it by them.

Must've been a relatively serious incident, really hope the injuries aren't too severe.

  • Was just about to post about this. Cyclist was an old guy.

I stopped off to see if there was anything I could do but an ambulance was already on route and the police too. I spoke to a cyclist who seemed to have it covered so I buggered off rather than standing round like a useless sod.

A lap later heard the sirens and two later the entourage had cleared and the doors were shut.

    Best wishes to the cyclist.

  • Think I saw you Em, it's been a while but I feel a bit daft for not recognising you. Apologies. I was on the white genesis flyer with red bits, small chrome messenger bag.

Just getting back into the habit of post-work laps, will keep an eye out in future.

  • No worries, I can't say that I recognised you either, say hi next time you spot me.

  • this happened again last night but on the west side, heading south after the mosque traffice lights. Probably a car pulling out of the parking area, a car trying to overtake a big bunch or just a bunch of idiots not used to riding in a group. Experience dictates the latter probably.

  • I went to the park on Tuesday for a planned session did 2 laps and saw so many horrific maneuvers from both cars and riders that I decided to give it a miss and left.

This sunny weather has made anytime from 16:00 through 19:30 a total nightmare.

  • I had a nasty experience on the southern strip of the Outer Circle two weeks ago in the evening. Two oncoming drivers were doing some kind of a race recklessly passed slower going cars.

If I had not got out of the way - fortunately, there were a number of free parking spots on my left - this could have ended really badly...
