Start of my Rat bike build
Built in my Home town....

Don't think you can build a rat. A rat becomes what it is over abuse and constant part replacements to keep it running despite failures. Look at sharky's bike, the ultimate rat for the reference. All these parts are becoming rattier and tattier because the owner looks at its purpose only, not the aesthetics. Most of the parts were expensive once, but rusted and got scratched and paint flaked off and shit. And that's what defines a rat.
And if you can't be bothered to look back for his bike, just google it. It's that famous. -

That's an nice looking frame. Looking forward to see it build up.

you can definitely build a beater however, and if you keep it long enough it may become a rat, or not
For me a rat is function over form, as apposed to a HHSB, which is the other way round

New forks and stem. I reckon the old forks could have snapped at any time

^its only my opinion, but a bar with less rise would look nicer.

The rat on the train tracks hits the spot nicely.
Here's one from Current Projects.

Admittedly this isn't much of a rat/beater but it seems more suited to this thread than the others. One day I'll get a Landshark and use it as my daily run around.
