I'm the last person to advocate getting up early, but it's really worth it in the summer. Cooler, quieter, not dark, better odds of finding a free bike stand etc etc.

i think i'm going to start getting up early to avoid the traffic mayhem that is already hitting town for the jubilee shit and will continue until the paralympics have finished. it's mental out there at the moment. already taking me 10 minutes longer to get in. need new routes.

Might start doing just that myself. The 8 o'clock brain fart that constitutes most people's spatial awareness was particularly sulphurous this morning.
Lady on road bike, London Road north from E&C this morning. When you looked over your shoulder and saw me overtaking you, why then suddenly decide that its a good time to swerve to the right. When you look over your shoulder, its not just for the sake of it. You need to process what you see. Unless you were actually trying to end it all by throwing yourself under the wheels of a bearded, badly dressed Irishman.

I'm not sure I can cope with a summer of the cycle commuting fuckery I witnessed this morning.
commute at 06:00. it's awesome :)
the only one riding like a cunt at that time is me.
He was commuting at 6:00.

Spotted a pair on Oakdale/Ivydale/Hollydale this morning. Him: Polo bike with interesting looking disc brake shield and helmet on his back, her red fixed with green mission rucksack, me late for work and riding like an idiot, the lights red for far too long.
will be dt and hops
Jonny last night on the way to the pub for some evening sunshine.
Good to see you as always.
yeah nice one ru. you will be glad young ole pulled out then.
Oooh I gave Jonny a bellowing shout across Holborn junction yesterday, I think I confused him.
nice one tom, realised it was you but was bit late to shout back across all that road fluff

I've been doing this for about a month now and I heartily recommend it. Added bonus is that I skip out of work around 4.30pm which gets a bit of a head start on hometime nodder hell

Oh yes. I miss my old commute through the Mall. Currently sucking up Strand/Trafalgar Square/Whitehall/Parliament Sq to get from Holborn to Victoria Street which even leaving early in the am is pretty vile!

yep, it's a traffic light every 50m and queued up traffic everywhere. forcing me back onto embankment, which is silly aggressive. argh. sigh.

Really nice yellow and red triple triangle frame locked up on tottenham court road, decals were worn but said "Neil .." Something? What is that thing?

I jumped in with abandon this morning.
Both feet first, eyes closed, Summer fuckery here I am.
I am at one with The Peloton.
I am become Cunt.
i was in libya earlier this year where insha'Allah was the name of the game. 'god willing, me and me kids can walk across this motorway'. it's all about outsourcing responsibility riding in these conditions. if you hear a shout of inshallah in london whilst your riding this summer, it's probably me.

And Victoria Street is much the same - only had to put up with a few 100metres of it before.

An impromptu consultation with dr digger outside Tesco in Brockley swiftly diagnosed the apparent basic problem with my money pit of a fucking OTP Powertap wheel, with special guest stars Mrs Brave and a few minutes later Brave.

90% sure I just saw Sparky in Tooting Common but was so out of breath and red-faced after my evening runnenger efforts that I scared him away instead of saying hello. Sorry.

Hats on the grim cycle path through Bloomsbury. Didn't work out that it was you in time to do anything other than that limp little wave.
