So basically I'm in the exact opposite position. I have the RD2 + 103 mm BB, which I can confirm gives a 45 mm chainline. Not sure why lots of sites seem to claim 42 mm for the RD2, however the Sugino website seems to be correct.
I'm looking for a 42 mm chainline, could this be achieved by using a 100 mm BB (does such a thing even exist)?
Alternatively, will I need different cranks? If so are there any cranks which give a 42 mm chainline with a 103 mm BB?
Bbhewee you mentioned some Stronglight, do you have a link?
I suppose I could move the chainring in. However, it looks like it'll change the chainline by more than 3 mm. And it doesn't look very good, so that's a temporary solution at best.
