    I'm still a bit confused but i'm getting there...

    The early 8-speed cassettes and bodies have evenly formed splines. The later Exa-Drive 8-speed bodies have one wide spline. The 9 and 10-speed bodies are completely different in spline shape.

    I just checked it and I've got an 8-speed Exa-Drive rear hub. So what i want (eventually when my LBS will HTFU + make time for my wheel) is a modern 8-speed cassette like this: http://www.bike-components.de/products/info/p508_Record-ED-8-fach-Kassette-.html , right?

    Until that moment comes i will be looking for a wheel with an 8-speed Campagnolo hub for cassettes. If anyone has one lying around for cheeps (and clincher) and lives in NL or doesn't mind shipping: i'll give you my money.
