3rd hand at £500 for frame/forks/HS/post is probably about £100-£150 too much in my opinion.

Think i saw you cycling up St Pancras way on the pavement today?
Do you work at the hospital?

can you supply us with a frame number for mercian to validate. paintjob / decals and fork crown are unusual for the vigs i have seen. I would like to check history for 400. That said it looks like a nice frame.
-
• #36
yep i am sorting out the frame number at the moment. i cant seem to make it out on the bottom bracket fully and so i am going to take it back to where i got it from and they are going to have a go.
-
• #37
doesn't seem like a mercian.
the saga continues -

That frame is the bike equivalent of Natascha Kampusch. Kidnapped, and forced to endure unspeakable things. It needs rescuing, and then possibly a book and TV deal.
just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to shit in somebody's sale thread.
fuck off. -

you misunderstand. he does like the frame, just not the garish adornments. -

so listen up peeps
i went to the bike shop, i have the bottom bracket code and i spoke to mercian today and it is most definitely a mercian although they are not sure of the model
have sent them pictures and they will confirm
just a few points
i dont really care how and if you like the build cos i liked it. i am splitting it because i dont expect anyone else to.
i think the banter on here is jokes but you should probably come round to have a look at the bike before you imply it is fake
it seems like the same people comment on the different threads and to that even though it is amusing......chill out a bit?....after all it is a bike.
last point: i joined this forum because everyone goes on about bike shops being dickish to novice riders....actually bar a few people the bike shops have been pretty nice.
they overcharge because they are running a business. capitalism etc

any advice on the stem lenght
i was told that the longer the better but i am 5 7 and riding a 50 frame so im not sure that is gonna be the case
-
• #48
Personally I choose 100mm as a go to length. But, are you sure a 50 is going to fit you?
I'm only 5'10 and would take a 55cm in the Mash. The Effective Top tube of the 50 is 517mm
" of the 53 is actually 53...
Measure that up against the Mercian if it fits you well. Are you a stroke/ rehab specialist?
-
• #49
i tried it in the shop.
53 was too big.
no room for the you know who when i tried to pick it up off the ground.
no i am an SHO in geriatrics who is just placed there. do you also work at St P?

Nah, I'm a medical student up at Nottingham, doing a case study on Stroke- googled the ward, and laughed at the serendipity.
If you tried it out thats all good then.
Go for it.
