Agree, interesting. Surprised how massive the variance is in durability between similar priced chains - my SRAM 1051, which if I ride in similar conditions to the test environment will last me less than 6 months, will definitely be replaced with a Shimano 105/Ultegra.
I don't do the wax thing, I use Chain-L, brilliant stuff.
