• Sorry, when you outsource to the East and deprive job in the UK, trying to get British manufacturers to support you won't be the best sale pitch would it?

We are aware of British manufacturers and are in talks with working with a number of them with the launch of our new site and custom bike builder. But up to that point you will struggle to find many start-ups who can afford to dive right into British manufacturing due to the costs.

    This:

The core of a bike is the frame, and that is where the small start-ups are happening - one man, a jig and a brazing torch. Of course nobody in their right mind would take on Tektro, Joy-Tech, Kalloy or Tien Hsin in their specialist areas, but it is possible to be a British frame builder, and we even still have a world class indigenous tube manufacturer, so you can be made in Britain from British feedstock.

    And this:

On the subject of Hope, a friend just sent off a Ti rear hub for now bearings. It's an older hub and was second-hand. They found a hairline crack when inspecting the hub, and sent him a brand new Ti rear hub at no cost.

On a posher note, the Rolls, although it is now owned by BMW is still customised and assembled in the UK. They retain their unique selling point, customised and made in the UK. Lotus, Aston, Prodrive, Land Rover all still do, car geek #guilty.

Branding and actually living up to it makes the difference, not just pound and pence, if you start a company looking at pound and pence, you are already on the wrong foot.
