For Sale: Small Trek Alpha 1000 road bike

  • As well as being tasked with selling the lovely SIDI shoes (buy the shoes), I have been given a bike to sell by my girlfriend's friend.

It hasn't been ridden for a few years, but is in decent working order, with a couple of small niggles that I will point out.

    Trek Alpha 1000
    Aluminium frame, with alu forks
Seat tube: 53cm CTC, 56cm CTT
    Top tube: 56.5cm CTC
    Cane Creek Aheadset
    Suntour Superbe triple chainset
    Sachs-Huret 7-speed freewheel
    Shimano ?? front derailleur
    Shimano 600 rear derailleur
Shimano 3x7 STI shifters - low end, Sora or Tiagra, I'm not sure
    Unbranded dual-pivot front brake
    Shimano Sora rear brake
Ritchey 6061 alloy bars, strange wiggly ergo shape, 43cm CTC
Bontrager 110mm ahead stem, looks like 1" but I'm not sure
Front wheel: unknown hub, Alexrims RP15F rim
Rear wheel: Gipiemme hub (for freewheel), Alesa 917 rim
    Selle Italia Filante saddle
    Push seatpost
Horrible pedals (you drove me to this by not buying them from my beater bargains thread)
    A Scobling of spacers

A couple of the components - derailleurs, wheels, freewheel - clearly aren't the stock ones, and while the new rear derailleur is better than stock, the freewheel adds weight, the wheels don't match, the the front derailleur is possibly not meant for a triple. I've had trouble setting it up, but you're better than me mechanically, so you'll be fine. There are a couple of chips to the paint as well, which are shown in the Flickr set below.

With this in mind, alls I'm asking is** £220**, they seem to go for £250-270 on Ebay so if you like you can buy it from me, sell it again for more straight away, and bathe in money. I just want it out of my house.

    Plenty more pictures here

Any questions, picture requests, etc. let me know.

Pickup from Islington, or I'll deliver it 5 miles or so away (it's far too small for me, so any further will hurt), and please don't dibs without PMing or I'll ignore you.

  • PM incoming.

  • Too big for the person I had in mind. Pretty good bike for the price though - I would have had it in an instant if the TT was 3cm shorter!

    Here's the original spec:

  • Cheers.

To clear up any confusion my poor selling skills might have created, this is not a specific women's bike, although as the previous owner shows, it can be comfortably ridden by (taller) women.
My views on what constitutes a 'small' bike might also be skewed by the fact that all of my bikes are 59cm+. The woman whose bike this was is about 5ft 9 or 10, and it's probably more of a small-medium than a small.

  • £210 anyone, before it goes on Ebay later?
