The 2nd gen. C-Record rear mech won't support indexing. Fortunately, at least it's a really nice shift you get with that setup.
Remember to pack the jockey and pulley wheels with grease; they are adjustable cup and cone types. I'm not sure how much play you should dial in, but slightly loose is better than slightly tight, especially for the upper jockey wheel.
ta for the tip rodabod. yes im running it friction, as you say there is no indexing with 2nd gen RM, it has no slant on the parallelogram so moves too far with each click. I dont have a problem with the friction shift and just had to have that rear mech.
