• Oh yeah, I've built a 48 spoke BMX wheel before so I'm not worried about building the thing, it's just having the right components! Sheldon has good info... I was pretty keen on doing half-radial on the back, but I'm thinking track wheels don't need much of a dish, so would probably be best to stick to a 2 cross or something. Anyway, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it... My current frame is non-butted 531, so saving a few hundred grams on wheels isn't top priority. A few hundred pounds (£) on the other hand, is probably more important. Form over function, all the way

    Build a symmetrical rear. If anything have a bash at a radial front. Alougth you'll probably find 32 3x front and rear requires 64 spokes of the same length. Which will save a fair bit of money.

    I have Mavic CXP33s, and lightish low flange novatech hubs. Laced with a tiwanise version of revolution spokes (heavily butted). IMHO they make a solid, stiff, and lightweight (ish) wheelset.
