Schlumpf has been making those bb/cranks for years, I'm surprised of the claim for first fixed gear application. Actually, they make a version for unicycles, so it's been done.
As for SA's 3 speed, granted there's only 2 on this, but no cables/shifters would appeal to the aesthetic of the fixed gear crowd, no?
