  • That's weird. I came here to report that eye culture is very much still open (despite someone telling me the contrary) and doing hi-res scans! Anyway, pretty happy with mine that I got back on Friday.

  • ^^ Its been discussed here before. I think the outcome is, it can be in both threads :)
    Its a 'hybrid' technology.

For focus, try and keep the lens pretty well stopped down, as unless you have a monorail LF you are going to struggle to keep the scanner surface all that perfectly level.

  • okay, thanks alot.
i'm not sure how to compensate for exposure times if the lens is stopped down though, should i just increase the dpi to lengthen them?

also, does the seal around the scanner have to be completely light-tight?

  • Found a new lab in Newcastle (new to me anyway) - it's called Bonsers in the Bigg Market for locals interested. £5 dev + scan, 30mb tif and they're really good quality. Psyched.

Will post photos when I can get onto a computer to covert them. They're well sick though, trus'.

  • bonsers occasionally have some cheap used gear too, always feel free to make daft offers on the stuff in the cabinets, the guys there cannot wait to see the end of the analogue stuff ;)

Surprised they offer dev + scan that cheap, pretty sure it wasn't that low last time I asked.

  • I graduate from my photography degree this year, I'm rapidly trying to use up all my 120 and large format film whilst it's still free to process! it's so expensive to get done otehrwise.

discovered this shop a few months back while looking for second hand gear, never got film done there though so will take my next roll there. #fuckdigitalab

  • Digitalab is fucking shite for getting a whole roll dev'd and scanned. Expensive and poor results. They're great for loads of stuff, just not that.

  • Got some new stuff up, and we'll be adding more over the coming days, just got a few rolls back

    more here

  • (off to ebay to get more velvia)

  • 3rd, 5th and 7th down are lovely. Velvia is my absolute favourite to shoot with! I really like how red/brown/orange tones show.

  • Fresh as fuck from kboy. Standard.

  • Lovely stuff kboy.

  • more here

    Like your portraits!

What camera are you shooting with again?

  • Also, want to buy a point-and-shoot with a good lens.
I think there are some Olympus XA fans around here, and I've been considering that thing as well.
Have been told that the Tessar lenses in the Yashica T's (T1-T5) are super good (sharp).
    Can anybody recommend other snappers?
Must fit in jacket, must have a serious lens, must be available for less than 50 on eBay.

  • Thanks all!

It's a few cameras used on there, but mostly Bessa r3a (latest velvia shots) and a panasonic gx1 (the portraits). Got some cheap point and shoots as well, one xa1 and just about to get my first roll dev'd from a Ricoh R1, should be interesting

  • Hello, I was wondering if any of you guys have either a 50mm lens Pentax K mount?
Also if any of you guys had a Olympus trip 35?
    Thanks!
Some new photos. Up here in Scotland! Taken on a Pentax ME Super.

You might get a cosmetically poor t4 or t5 for £50 if you're lucky but they usually go for £150-200 on the 'bay.
The Olmpus Mju II is similar to the t4 as it's a true point and shoot with autofocus.

They go for less than £50 on ebay but they have been rising in price because of their similarity to the t4 and t5!
The XA is great and I shoot on mine a lot. The rangefinder is a bit fiddly and some with big hands find it unpractical. It's also quite hard to focus quickly, in my experience anyway - it does offer more control than the Mju II though. They usually go for about £30-100; I've seen ones go for as cheap as £15 and watched what seems like hundreds creep from £10 to £40+ in the final seconds (I eventually got one for £4 at a carboot!).

Another option is the XA2 or 3, they go for less - generally £20ish. There's 3 preset focus ranges and you have no aperture control or info about the shutter speed. Some say that the lenses on the XA2s and 3s are sharper (although not significantly and this is likely counteracted by the hit and miss of getting the focus right) but I would say that shooting is a lot quicker due to less fiddling about.

    Hope that helps!

  • My F100 didn't get a look in when I was in Paris this week, starting to love my XA2. Fits in my jeans, really quick, good for sly picture taking too.

  • Just ordered me some Velvia 50...

  • Have been messing about pushing some delta.

  • Lovely tones in those Kboy, i really need to start shooting on proper colour film instead of cheap shitty expired stuff

  • umm where do you get your Velvia ?

  • ^^ just make sure you get expired film that's been properly stored and you should be fine

^ ebay, usually old expired stuff
