GPS traces used to target bikes

Even more stangely is that on some sites like ridewithgps etc you can actually 'register your gear' and state what bike you have!! Seems a remakably stupid thing to do, yet people (generally with very very nice road bikes to boast about) seem to do it on a regular basis.....

On the other hand... the smart people are insuring their bikes and if someone were to use the gps tracking data to help remove that unsightly last year's model from a certain flat allowing a shiny new bike to be stored in its place... well...
