  • What field of work are you in nesbit? Would love to get hands done at some point too. But I can't see myself ever being in a line of work where it'd be 'acceptable.'

I'm a store manager. area manager is my next step, but that still wouldn't be a problem. when I get old and maybe want/need to do something else I guess it might be a hindrance, but who knows

  • Mmmmm. He's not a store manager but a trading manager at my branch of Tesco (second in charge) has sleeves and knuckles, God knows where else. He seems to be fine. Obviously it depends on your company though!

  • think it'll be less and less of an issue, so if its kinda ok now, in 10 years it'll be allright

  • Yeah tattoos aren't exactly taboo anymore, they're basically fashion accessories now rather than a symbol of someone wild and rebellious (and therefore unemployable)

  • Then again I've never worked in an office so you probably shouldn't listen to my advice

  • I completely agree with this outlook. However I know my employer that isn't Tesco, most certainly does not have that view of them. I can't personally see the issue.

Haha scoot, made me giggle like a little girl. Bet your place of work would love it if you got some Peeps on your hands!

  • If I was going to get a novelty tat it would be definitely be Pokemon, Adventure Time or Nyan Cat related. Or a sleeve of all three mwahahaha

Edit: and Harvey Birdman and Invader Zim

  • You should get Jake from adventure time! ;-)

I am guessing your favourite character is Finn though :-(

  • I like them both equally! But Finn is a better character for an avatar :)

But on a more serious note, I've decided that my best friend and I should get matching Welsh lovespoon tattoos. Because it's a nod to our Welshness and the design of the lovespoon would be specific to our hopefully everlasting friendship.

^ Like that. Not sure where to get it though, maybe somewhere weird like my forearm. Might have it a solid colour though since I'm very wary of dodgy shading.

  • Yeah that's a great idea. Depends where you go with regards to shading surely? The better the artist, the better the shading?

Definitely would not have had you down as being Welsh!

  • Well, I'm half-Welsh but before my mum muddied up the gene pool my family was of the purest Swansea miners stock. And I lived in Wales for 12 years and spoke Welsh fluently.

I know if we went somewhere amazing the shading would probably be ok but I'm just scared it will come out looking like a cartoon drawing. I want something either subtle and realistic, or flat and graphic.

  • Subtle and realistic trumps flat & graphic everytime...

If you're putting something on your body, even if it's small/simple, if you can, get it done well...

  • Heehee for a second I thought that was your arm and was alarmed at how hairy it was

You're right, subtle is better, I should probably just have more faith in the people who do this kind of thing for a living

  • think it'll be less and less of an issue, so if its kinda ok now, in 10 years it'll be allright

I thought that ten years ago, but it still isnt.

Unless you're some absolute genius at programming or have some amazing skills that nobody else has for hundreds of miles, do not get your hands, neck, or face done, is my advice. If you do manual labour or customer service of any kind its a bad idea.

  • Manual Labour = ??

hmmn... what is your thinking ? Why is that then ?

  • Because - if you have some minor gripe with a manager, you can be replaced fairly easily, if you have an unskilled manual labour job.
The manager can say "his tattoos werent in keeping with the company image etc etc" and you get the boot whereas you might otherwise get a warning. Happened to a lad I knew in Dublin.

Although I didnt care because he was a dick and I was glad to see the back of him from the factory.

  • Only just heard of Annie Frenzel, but I'm visiting Berlin in the coming months and have sent her an email asking if she is free at any point. I have no idea what her waiting list may look like though, so I am ready for disappointment.

This is fucking amazing. The woman's face is just wow.

  • That owl is a champ.

If I had that on my hand I'd never have to think again. I'd let him do all the brain work.

  • The owl is good, but I was more drawn to the woman. The shading on her hair and lips and cheeks is off the chizam. Cannot wait for her to reply!

  • They are both amazing.

  • I like the all seeing eye /illuminati...... guess that's over is it, now, in hip terms ?

  • I once had a dream that I had a tattoo of an owl that was also a grandfather clock.

It was the best tattoo ever. I fucking love owls.

Apparently they're quite stupid though, contrary to popular consensus. Compared to other birds of prey that is.

I once 'liked' the Owls page on Facebook, so my news feed is always liberally festooned with photos of these majestic beasts. It's the best thing only good thing about facebook.

    [/csb]

  • Shit I cannot stop thinking about her work. Reply to my email! That was a cool story, bro. I too like owls. Never imagined wanting an owl tattoo, but the more and more I see, the more and more I fall in love with them.

  • I have a good idea for an owl tattoo, but I can't afford to get it done.
Need to start saving for it.
Might go see Dom Holmes for a consult, if I drop a ton on the deposit I will be compelled to get the cash together.

  • I initially considered Dom before Andrea at TFB, but Dom's waiting list was just over a year. I am 100% happy with what Andrea did anyhow. Xam's is just under 2 years!
