back in January I was destroyed by a chap who said to me as we commuter raced "are you going to work with me or against me" and we hammered through town together from Kensington to Chiswick. at the time I guessed he rolled at about 25mph. tonight he was on the road again and we worked together through town. the garmin was on the bike today, and it appears his rolling pace is above 25mph, and it was a challenge to keep his wheel or do any meaningful time at the front.
i could make excuses about having 2 locks and all the tools and spares from doing a Dr Bike session on my back, or him being geared and me being fixed. but none of it counts for shit as I guess he is probably 10 or 15 years my senior and was able to talk comfortably at that pace.
some days it can be a pleasure to have my lardy arse served on a platter.
