  • Tripel Karmeliet is amazing isn't it

Best tripel IMO, better than Westmalle which is the usual benchmark (and I've got through about a crate of each over the last few years).

Definitely one to try and clone at some point.

  • had a few of these last night very nice indeed

The best beer in the word'
Must be it says so on the label

  • ^That was licorice and molasses
    This

    is like alcoholic maltesers/horlicks

13 year old beer. Bloody good it was too.

  • Yeah, that stuff is delicious. Not cheap though. They sometimes have it at The Banker by the river under Cannon St.

  • Yep, that's where we were. £5 a bottle, seemed bloody good value for a 9% pint, which sells for more retail, if you can find it.

  • had a lovely pint of Innis and Gunn in the Brewery Tap Stratford on Saturday £5.40 a pint mind, not cheap, but a lovely pint.
And here is an article on the starting of Innis and Gunn
I was truly shocked after reading the 5th 6th and 7th paragraphs

Good to see a unique brewery doing well in these hard times

  • I spotted some of their boxed bottles at my local last night.
I was on the Pride though. Maybe next week.

    Anyone know Essex Wibbler?

It was going down well on Saturday but I'd started on Carling at a pub so tastes buds may not have factored into the equation.

  • Innis and Gunn is beautiful, I had a rum cask one of theirs that was somehow even better.

  • The blonde is good too, I have tried some of the limited editions but not all of them.

  • Looks like I'll have to hunt some of these down.
I had one a while ago that I found from 2006 that was pretty gross I have to say.
Does not get better with age!

  • Their website tells you where you can buy the special editions from (unfortunately it is more often than not an All Bar One - yuk).

Sainsbury's stocks the three core beers.

  • morrisons do one

  • Spiced rum one was amazing, didn't know about the others, I'll start looking.

  • The Irish cask one looks very dark, it will be interesting but I don't think it would go too well with food.

  • Stout is food, have one after a stout.

  • Going through The Kernel range this week:

Sure you've all raved about these up thread but no harm in a bump

  • I've not seen those. I clearly need to drink more..

  • You;re in for a treat.

  • I'm almost jealous, I wish I could drink my first Kernel again

I spent a few weeks visiting Robinson's to photograph the changes there; great place.

I'm keen to try this. I had the oak aged one at the weekend, it went really well with tuna steak.

  • I had a superb St Peter's Whiskey ale last week. nose like an Islay malt. wonderful.
Heads up that ocado are doing 4 for £6 on Badger ales at the moment. Get your Poacher's Choice in while you can.

  • I like pretty much anything oak aged but the innis & gunn is special, kind of vanilla-y, slightly viscous but smooth.
