There are a couple of parts I would want to immediately upgrade for better shifting / strength, mainly the crankset and the front derailleur.
Could I switch to an XT front mech? Presume that's probably a yes.
Are my crankset options limited? It would be nice to put something at Tiagra / Deore, or maybe XT / 105 (I gather they are the rough road / MTB equivs) on there and sell the original parts off before I use them. It's a 68mm bottom bracket.
Nb - use will be tow paths, trails, road touring, and ad hoc situations where I can't use my dolan precursa.
I'm thinking about buying a Salsa Vaya. There's a super expensive option with Apex gearing, and one that 's about 300 cheaper with the following rig:
Crankset FSA Vero Triple, 50 = 165mm, 52, 54, 55, 56 = 170mm, 57, 58, 60 = 175mm
Chainring FSA 30-39-50T
Bottom Bracket FSA PowerSpline
Chain KMC X9
Cassette Shimano HG-50, 9-Speed, 11-34T
Front Derailleur Shimano Sora, Triple
Rear Derailleur Shimano Deore, 9-Speed, Long Cage
