  • also failed in the ballot, so no villa-junior this time out.

    marshalling is always good though.

  • Do you think they took previous marshalls out of the ballot so they'd get more volunteers?

    conspiracywinkyface

  • I keep hoping for a secret LFGSS backdoor registration for the faithful.

  • Sadly, no ticket for me this time round. I trust that you are there Mr Walrus - will you be riding the Continental?

  • ha. there was no faffing with the ballots. I looked after our programmed set the programe up and only recognised 3 names. I was sad about that for sure. Happily some of my favourites are now marshals and tea stop brigade. . .

@shoreditch - corny is right about the insurance.. there is also the matter of tea stop. Tim has been running that for 3 years now and its really REALLY difficult to do 500 cuppa in an hour = more and I think he'd have a heart attack.

  • ^ or quit.
he's always had lots of help I might add, but its incredibly stressful for everyone at the tea stop to be faced with a mass arrival and be frantic for 45mins.

  • @cliveo - nope no one was pulled prior - except me and ted who tested it. But we sort of have to show up..

I brought a football joke to the Tweed Run thread... I'm sorry

  • @jaqui, it would appear that there are some 2,600 people who might be interested in having a whip round for the insurance premium. I agree that tea can't just be whipped round, though. The additional riders would have to make do with wine.

  • There is always a shortage of Marshals.

  • I can think of LOADS of reasons never to wear tweed.

Smelling of piss is one of them.

    ha ha

    YOUREDOINITWRONG...

  • If anyone does fancy marshalling just drop me a pm

    Cheers

  • Might those of those us unlucky in the draw be able to crash the party aftwards...?

Do we think that all 500 selected are going to turn up? I'd guess that some people thought "Yeah, I might put in to go on that Tweed Run" since there was no commitment to log-in at a certain time. Perhaps next time open the draw for 10-minutes at 3am to make sure people are committed!? :o)

  • Am someone's plus one.

Plus, enjoyed a ride through town today, 60% tweeded up.

  • Do we think that all 500 selected are going to turn up?

    Oh for sure yes.

  • General Lucifer has crossed the pond, at least online... http://nypress.com/throwback-threads-for-vintage-cycling-enthusiasts-2/

  • is there anybody with a ticket thats unable to go?

    dibs

    Outstanding! (do I get royalties?)

  • 3rds...?

I booked to come down to Londinium this weekend, but didn't get a ticket :( Is there anything else to do - do you have any museums or restaurants or stuff...?

  • ^ na mate, we don't 'ave any museums or restaurants ....... or stuff com to think of it

  • bump

  • Pretty much heading straight there. But say hello if you spot a chap on Condor and a lass on a Brompton.

  • Just cobbled together a bike after finding a hole in my downtube, needless to say, the outfit will be sorted in the morning...

  • I'll be there from 9-ish I'm guessing. Perhaps earlier.

I think I'm still drunk from last night and the ride will help sober me up a bit.

  • ^ was so tempted to hide the Mathers whilst you nipped off for a photo ;)

Dof of the caps as always to Jaqui & Ted, superb run and lovely route.
Thank you to all for making it a super enjoyable afternoon!

    Sx
