James if you want to try the cable pull disc I have on my crosser I'll bring it to Swinley one day. BB5 and 5700 Shimano Shifter. I think it's awesome - I really don't know what all the fuss is about re. modulation and set-up.

I think the fuss is because modulation when using 32c tyres off road is of more importance than it is on an MTB due to the limited grip of the tyres.

I wouldn't know, I try to never slow down...
