  • Dibs wheelset if you split

  • Second dibs on wheelset if split. Live near hammersmith area too :)

  • 3rd dibs wheelset

  • How come the disk tab is on the drive side?

  • How come the disk tab is on the drive side?

Partly for easier mudguard fitting and partly (Cotic say) so the braking forces push the axle up into the fork ends rather than downwards (hence the fork ends don't have lawyer lips). I'm not sure if their system really is more secure (it's certainly not less secure) and the front wheel's never come out of mine so they must be doing something right...
Cracking bike though, these frames can do just about anything (gears, hub gear, fixed, rack, mudguards, cantis, discs etc) but still manage to be pretty light and nippy. Good luck with the sale!

  • I ran it with a Avid Juicy disc brake for the first year or so and had no problems either. Actually took it off so I could run drops for a while and then just went with the rim brake as the disc was so powerful I'd end up locking the front wheel quite often. Bit scary...

Dibs noted on wheels. Would prefer to sell whole as I'm lazy, so price drop to £500. If no one is interested I'll break it up.

  • someone could just buy this, take the wheels and put another wheelset on

if the ceramic surface is still good on the wheels they are a great wheelset - the rims are no longer made and they are strong, and last many times longer than the non ceramic open pros

  • Time to split?

  • Maybe.

I've always wanted one of these, just no space, and the wrong size.

Would this be something polo players would be interested in?

  • Are the wheels 26", 650c or 700c?

  • the rims are no longer made

    Really?

Bit of wear on the front, never had a rim brake on the back. Will post pics tonight hopefully.

    700 c.

    Time to split?

    Heh, maybe.

  • Ceramic's not CD's, they were double the price :

    http://roadcyclinguk.com/news/racing-news/mavic-open-pro-ceramic-rim-long-term-report.html

The links posted above by maddernj and dr chan made me doubt myself as to whether they are indeed ceramic, as the colours of my rims are all gray - braking surface is same colour as the rim - like those CDs.

I've dug out my huge box of receipts and they are indeed CDs, NOT ceramics. Apologies for this, it's a genuine mistake and I've absolutely not intended to deceive anyone. Corrected the OP.

Attached some pics of the wheels and of the receipt, which I'll happily show in person along with ID to prove it's me on the receipt if you want...

Price dropped to £450 for the whole lot to reflect that they're CDs not ceramics. If there's no interest within 24 hours, I'll break it up.

  • Got a buyer lined up for everything except the wheel set, so it's just them now.

maddy, mrrager, v-l - are any of you still interested?

Looking for £195, including cogs, lockrings, gatorskins, inner tubes, rim cloth - the lot!

  • Just bought a wheelset yesterday so undibs for the wheelset. Can I take one dura ace lockring off the wheelset though please?

  • Hm, could you tell me what the spacing is on the rear? 130mm I'm guessing?

  • Fairly sure they're 130 mm. Will check tonight.

I would but I don't have a lockring tool to get it off...

  • They're 130 mm.

  • They make them 132.5mm so you can easily accommodate either 130mm or 135mm.

  • They make them 132.5mm so you can easily accommodate either 130mm or 135mm.

Yeah, I know. I think PascalPearce was referring to the rear wheel rather than the frame, since the frame has got a buyer. Just wheelset left.

  • Aha, good point! As you were...

  • Price drop to £170

  • Price drop to £160 and added more pics to first post.
