People might like to know the tubing? If that is possible.

I know... I've been trying to find out from the builder but they haven't been in touch (emailed them 3 times now). My best guess at the moment is Columbus tubing (from the various research/confirmed cases of Massi using Columbus tubing) but I don't exactly know which type exactly. Maybe SL? There were no tubing stickers on it. And the frame really has no identifying marks that I can see unless somebody can point me in the right direction.
Saying that there is a chance is could be Dedacciai tubing as well.

Saw this today and looks very interesting! Cranks are awesome and frame has a great story....have a bump and would love updates if/when you hear from those framefolk :)

Thanks Aidan! Best educated guess at the moment is Columbus SL tubing but hopefully I'll get some concrete answers soon.

Haven't been able to find out exactly which tubing. Definitely cold-drawn steel. My best guess Columbus SLX, SL, GARA tubing. Need to make room in the studio...
Price drop – £260.
Anybody interested before I part it up? I've had some interest in the cranks, bars and levers separately.

Argh, just looked this Flickr of this guy in Spain who restored a couple of old Massi frame (maybe around the same era as mine here) and he has a 531 sticker on one of them. Now I don't know what to guess!

doesn't the seat post diameter mean its not 531

That's what I was thinking too. Wish I could figure this out. Where is the savant who can just rock up and look at the frame and me like, "Oh, yeah, that's this tubing and probably built this year."?!

If it was at £250 I'd be very interested couriered down to Bristol ......

What is the frame size e.g. 52cm ?
-
• #14
holga1, it is listed above. Check the original post for all the details. Dimensions: 54.5cm center to center on the seattube. 55cm center to center on the toptube.

Ya'll can start provisional dibs on the various components if it doesn't go for this price.

Not being funny but these bikes are two a penny in Spain. You could pick one up for 60 or 70 euros.

Not this bike according to a Massi collector.
Ramon, please, show me some for two a penny and I'll consider adjusting the price.

Hmm- not wishing to piss on a parade here but probably will unintentionally................I'd have to say the frame build looks to be a basic one by the lugs/seat stays, they're very thick metal, nothing like the 531/SL/SLX frames I've had in the past from 1968 onwards
The overall weight would be a good clue here.
That's not to say it wouldn't do good service for many a year to come though.
Good luck with the sale- there's not many bus/Tube fares in the price quoted!

Thanks for the info El Diablo, anything helps really. Wish I had a way to weigh the bike but have no scales of any sort.
Not sure what you mean by bus/tubes fares? The bike currently lives in London and doesn't come with an Oyster card.
edit: Nevermind, I gotcha...Yeah, riding a bike beats the price of taking the tube or bus any day of the week.

Closing the thread. Off to see gumtree and if not there then parting it up and will sell the bits.
I'm selling this beautiful and rare steel road bike I picked up overseas, unfortunately after riding it for a couple weeks I've realised it is just a bit too small for me. It's a little nicked up and still dirty in a few spots so it could use some love.
It is a Massi CX Corsa from I'm guessing the 1980s. I contacted the builder and also a collector of these bikes to try and find out more but haven't heard back yet. I did find out that it was built by Cicles Masferrer (www.casamasferrer.com) and is from Catalonia, Spain.
Here are the specs—
-Dimensions: 54.5 ctc st, 55ctc tt.
-Beautiful lugs, Horiztonal dropouts, 130mm rear spacing, 100mm front.
-Light blue paintjob, slightly metallic.
-Route rear wheel on Ofmega hub.
-Massi front wheel (and hub?), this is pretty scratched up though and I'd replace it, still rolls pretty true though.
-Schwalbe Blizzard Sport tyres (I just put these on).
-ATAX Guidons Philippe drop bars, 44cm.
-Unknown stem, 90mm reach.
-Shimano 600 aero levers.
-Mobic cranks (170mm) and BB. The pedal threads seem to be a non-standard pitch?
-Mobic chainrings (52t and 42t).
-Front derailleur is Campagnolo.
-6 speed rear cassette, Simplex S001 rear derailleur.
-Massi Velo brakes.
-Massi seatpost (25.8). Really nice two-screw adjustment for the angle.
-Unbranded? SD27012 saddle.
Some photos before and after a little cleanup/servicing-
Let me know if I missed anything.
Asking £290, collect in London if possible. Dibs and PM please.
