  • Yeah I U'dTFS and there's three or four threads a bit like this but nothing exactly.

The pedals on my bike have an annoying habit of eating away at the sole of my shoe, unsurprisingly where the greatest pressure points are. My old shoes had to be replaced because they actually dug two holes right the way through.

The pedals are not very exciting ones off a Fuji track with toeclips.

Robbed this image of a classified thread but it's those pedals. today I tried to grind the offending edges off with my Dremel but they stood firm.

The trainers in question are Vans with the standard waffle sole which I bought because I reckoned they'd stand up better than my old Pumas.

I'm not going to go clipless because of the cost and faff associated with carrying two different pairs of shoes around. The questions is, should I get some shoes with tougher soles or replace the pedals for some super advanced "don't fuck up your shoes" models, and if so, any recommendations? Or indeed, should I just stop complaining and replace my shoes every 6 months when the holes get too bad?
