The 800 is significantly better. The OS maps are great, and the touchscreen is all very nice, but the real advantage is that 800's can do true turn by turn navigation if you use .tcx files. Which in English means it is a hell of a lot more reliable. I didn't actually know this when I bought it, now I'm really glad i got an 800.
If your primary purpose in buying a Garmin is navigation, get an 800.
