  • Yodel isn't really a delivery company in the normal sense. Their delivery drivers are self employed who use their own cars/vans and get paid per delivery. Hence, quality of service varies tremendously. Personally, I have not had a problem receiving stuff delivered by them but that doesn't mean a thing.

In Holland, they use the same delivery model for ordinary mail. They target the unemployed, the elderly, housewives etc with promises of easy money for part time work but in reality, they pay so little that to get a decent income these people have to spend hours delivering letters. It is not unknown for some of these people to be so overwhelmed by this work that they have thousands of undelivered letters and parcels stashed in their homes.

    That's capitalism for you!

  • HDNL took over the DHL's UK operations a while back and started calling themselves Yodel. I used them recently with no issues. They weren't the fastest but they were the cheapest..

  • Deliver it to your work.

Unless you work at a company with 4,000 employees and deliveries to workplace are not allowed.

Yes, I know the answer - go and work somewhere else...

  • A lot of places will only ship to the billing address for the card used to make the transaction.

    Work somewhere else.

    Shop somewhere else.

  • Work somewhere else.

    predictable

In fact, didn't I predict it.

  • Fucking Yodel.

    "Over side gate"

    what fucking gate??

  • Resorted to Twitter to chase up a missing package, "YODEL. Y U NO DELIVER MY PARCEL"

"We've sent it back to the sender"

    Sweet. But why?

"Attempted to deliver 3 times but couldn't get an answer"

At a workplace reception with 24/7 staff on the door? Where all the other many couriers who pop in and out all day manage to deliver their shit without any problems? My arse.

  • "deliver their shit"
    "My arse."

    Nawty.

  • I have never had a good experience with yodel. Worst courier service ever.

  • Worse than parcel force? Is that even possible ?

  • at least if they can't be arsed to deliver it they just dump it at the sorting office. Then I can wait in a really long queue to collect it.

  • Sent to the office they're ok. Never send home..

  • Worse than parcel force? Is that even possible ?

Heard of their *"you're not at home" * card?

    Neither have I.

  • More often than not, Yodel drivers just leave the package outside your door or even on a neighbour's doorstep. Lazy bastards.
    this.

    Yofail delivery of a laptop.
arrive, knock knock? no one home? "oh well I will sign for it and leave it leaning on the front door" [coz i iz dln]

    days pass:

Hello is that Yo Fail? I have not reciev....what! some one has signed for it? It was not me....no it was not. Ydl pls.

ok Gby we wll lk in2 it 4 u. days pass:

ring ring: Oh Hai YoFail you found my laptop!! but you told the old lady who lives at the house it was deliverd to, who called you to tell you it was not hers, that you would pick it up three days ago, and now she is OUTSIDE MY DOOR after taking a TAXI TO MY ADDRESS which is on FRONT OF the package.

    yodel = empty wank bucket

  • yodel likes to let my neighbor sign for parcels, then neighbor holds onto package for a further week because "you weren't at home"LEAVE A NOTE BRO IT AINT HARD!

  • They tend to use unmarked vans, so when my doorbell wasnt working, I was waiting all day for a van marked Yodel. - None came.
Rang up, oh we tried to deliver.
Okay fair enough. Tried to explain if they could deliver after 4pm next day if possible
    sure no problems

attempted to deliver at 3pm next day and tried to call boyf at work...

    sigh.

  • Sent to the office they're ok.

That's precisely what I did and they still couldn't be bothered delivering it and just sent it back to where it came from after leaving it in their warehouse for a week, the indolent cunts.

  • Oh, they've updated their tracker, which maybe means they haven't returned it to the sender like they told me they did?

It makes for fascinating reading. I'm in Bankside, London. The sender is in Nottingham. The parcel arrived in London Vauxhall a few days ago, where it sat about for a week until going to Hatfield, 23 miles away. It is currently in Manchester, after an overnight journey from Hatfield, 200 miles away from its delivery location in Vauxhall, and 70 miles northwest of where it started in Nottingham.

They've helpfully added a note saying "Parcel in transit, possible delay".

  • apologies for the dredge but i want to vent an basically this ^. Every day this week I have contacted them to ask what's going on and every day they've told me my parcel is out for delivery and with a courier. However of course it hasn't been, the tracking online shows it hasn't left the warehouse and there's a receptionist 24hrs where I want it delivered so their claim that there wasn't anyone there on delivery is bollocks. To top it all off they call me yesterday on the contact number I have given them to ask if they should return the item to sender?!! They then promise it'll go out Friday PM or Saturday AM, and of course it hasn't arrived. I'm going to have to take a trip to Vauxhall depot on Monday when I really have better things to do on my day off

    gaaaahhhhhh FUCK YODEL

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/shopping/2013/01/yodel-named-worst-parcel-delivery-firm

the package is from Planet X, so please, if anyone has a bad experience with a delivery by yodel from Planet X then email planet X to say so and hopefully they'll switch couriers

edit: so I too the afternoon off work, went to Vaxhall to collect my parcel, turns out my parcel was at a different depot in Peckham, despite them emailing me that it is in Vauxhall...fuck that shit. I didn't have time to go to Peckham, so after much hectoring, and finally getting through to someone in customer services who wasn't a fucking moron I was delivered to me.

I also learnt: despite their website saying you can - you cannot change the delivery address of your parcel, you have to get the sender to contact yodel to change the delivery address. They will email you to say 'delivery address changed' if you complete the online form, but it won't be, and your parcel will sit in the depot doing fuck all. My advice would be to get hold of a manager at the customer service centre, get his direct line and bother him/her daily. It seemed to me like anyone below manager level would just tell you they had done something to get the parcel delivered tomorrow when they had done nothing.

  • Next day delivery - As soon as I saw Yodel as the courier in the confirmation order I knew there would be issues.

Just got a text saying your parcel has been received - it has? I'm sat here waiting for it and it sure as hell isn't in my hands.

I think I will actively look for companies that don't use yodel now.

  • Mother of Fuck.
3 failed deliveries this week, I arranged to go pick it up from the 'local' service center (in Loughborough, which is a short, but fun ride away), and then get an email from the company- saying we've rearranged delivery for Monday. Which means I cannot go pick it up till Monday, when I'll be at work. Smart move.
    Gah.

  • This thread brings back terrible memories of Yodel.

Last time I used them there was no parcel or card. Customer services said it had been left with some name I'd never heard of! Not even a neighbour. A few days later someone down the road dropped it off.

Very unhelpful. They could give me the name but had no idea where they had delivered it to.

  • Can we get a list of companies that use / don't use Yodel, so we know who to buy off or not?

    So far:

    Uses Yodel:
    Planet X / On One

    Doesn't use Yodel:
    ?
