Wanted: Track Fork

Posted on
  • I am having trouble finding a track fork with the following spec:

    • lugged steel
    • 1" threaded
    • 200mm steerer (with approx 35mm thread)
    • flat or nearly flat crown
    • for 700c wheels
    • 100mm spacing (obvs)
    • drilled or drillable for a brake

If anyone's got one or has a good idea of where I could find one pleae let me know.

    Thanks very much,

    Josh

  • bump dem tings

  • I have some that might tick all the boxes but need to check the steerer length when I get home.
Will PM you when I know later tonight...

  • I've had no luck with this, anyone got owt or know of a good source? Cheers!

  • The tfg ones sound like they may fit the bill?

  • They would do if they had any left.

  • I am having trouble..

Not surprising. You won't have too much trouble with this:

    • lugged steel
    • 1" threaded
    • 200mm steerer (with approx 35mm thread)
    • flat or nearly flat crown
    • for 700c wheels
    • 100mm spacing (obvs)

However, the major problem arises with:

    • drilled or drillable for a brake

You could either get a road fork, which I'm thinking will have a rake that will upset your geometry (?) or a track fork which is unlikely to be viable in the drilling stakes.

If you were prepared to go a little £££ and a little then a builder could make you something perfect. I think Chas Roberts quoted me about £100 a few years ago for such a fork.

  • Yep, this is essentially the conclusion I've arrived at. Surly's Steamroller fork is drilled and would be exactly perfect, except that there's about an inch of clearance that necessitates a long-reach caliper. BLB (spits) do something nice but the crown has there logo cast into it :-/

Also, it was interesting to note that *Con*dor do basic 1" threaded steel forks £140, but the same fork is available elsewhere for £80.

  • Steerer is an inch too short!

I have been considering a straight fork though.

  • The BLB ones, which are becoming my last resort, have the BLB logo cast into the crown like this. How could this be filled? I don't think I could stand seeing it and I'd be repainting anyway.

  • have it filled in like a dent

  • yeah, maybe you could use some car filler?
