If the shoes fit, and the cleat position in an idea position, then generally you shouldn't get hotspot.
pedals I think largely varies on the person, some experiences hotspot with Atac, some with Shimano.
I loved Atac but went for Shimano simply because they're a lots more adjustable than the Atac's cleat.
