Koga Miyata commuter with a small budget

Posted on
  • Hi,

A colleague of mine asked me to build her a bike cause she wanted to exercise a bit more.
She said that she didn't want to spent a lot of money and I said to her that I could do it for 50 euro.

So that was easily said than done. But when I was browsing the forum I saw the Shogun "7 speed hack" of 790. And I fell in love with that idea.

I bought a Koga Miyata Gentsracer S for 40 euro from a friend. It has, I believe, a shimano600ex group. But I don't have the bike yet.

Next thing I will do is sell the 600 crank, shifters and derailleurs and for that money I'll buy some other parts.

So It will be a "5- or 6 speed hack" ;d

    Pictures will come soon.

Made this thread for tips, tricks or questions.

    Cheers.

  • I am also thinking of building a bike like that, although I quite want 9 speed (easier to get really good mtb shifters) and have a rear brake :)

    Good luck

  • Rear brake is going on this one too ;)

  • What happened to this?
