In light of recent events it would be good if some more of you guys got involved in the LCC Big Ride this weekend. Currently only 30 confirmed attendees from LFGSS...

Surely anyone who is in an Addison Lee cab that drives in the bus lane should only offer Oyster as payment...?

I like this thread. It's pretty Old School. people trying to unite against a common cause leads to various infighting.
I personally find AL drivers to be the worst on London's roads by an absolute mile. Nothing can touch them in terms of unawareness, inconsiderateness and retardation. . It's almost as though they are an army of clones. They all look the same, dress the same and act the same. it is a bit scary.I hope the whole company gets what is coming to them

Lets forget about the fact we are cyclists for a moment.
AL are encouraging its employees to break the law. An employer has a level of duty of care for its staff. If you ignore the aspects that could affect us, this is still worth of a boycott in my view.

Yeah, it's been up and down all morning. Very possible that AL have orchestrated a DNS attack, considering they're savvy enough to try to influenced the App store reviews (not well enough though...).Perhaps DK has more info on this one?

If we're going down that route, let's be clear about what AL is suggesting - which is that the law is unlawful, and entering the bus lanes is not unlawful.
They can suggest that all they like but the law is the law until it is changed...

But the legislation only becomes unlawful after the relevant legal process has completed therefore any contraventions of the legislation recorded before that date remain unlawful until then.
I don't get it.

Apologies if I missed it: has anyone seen a form letter that we can send to our employers, encouraging them to close accounts with AL, on the basis of conflicts with their Corporate Social Responsibility policies etc?

all this talk of allies and enemies, and black cab drivers do this its a bit hypocritical isn't it?
When ever you have a large group of people you get a fairly random cross section of the population, be that group cyclists or cabbies (sometimes shock horror, they can be both), you get a lot of different people. Saying cabbies are dangerous is exactly the same as saying cyclists RLJ or any of the other stupid things Griffin has said.Cyclists do RLJ, Cabbies do drive recklessly, climate change is happening, HIV is the precursor to AIDs, passive smoking causes cancer, Jesus was a black man and he loves all the people.

Dear Mr. Griffin,
You've had great "success" in business and made your millions; if that’s the sort of thing that satisfies you I can respect it. But cast your mind back to the days before profit dominated your life - before you lived, ate and breathed pounds and pence per mile, fuel tax and driver efficiency. Do you recall more simple pleasures? Like this morning, I found a lovely sunny spot to stand in, whilst waiting somewhere chilly. Or how about the pink blossom and daffodils bursting out all around the city at this time of year? Or a beautiful summer sunset that turns the London sky clear gold through deep clear blue and the first twinkling star suggesting endless possibilities? These pleasures are nothing to do with money and are simply gifted by the world around us. Riding a bicycle is one such pleasure. It's free (and sorry Mr Griffin, but it always will be). It's healthy. It can liberate anyone. And it's fun. You couldn't buy my right to cycle for a million pounds, and you will never take it by legislation or force of action. Please respect other people and revoke your rash statements endangering cyclists’ safety and freedom.
Regards,
Olly398He'll probably think you're a dick for assuming what his life is like. I would. Perhaps, occasionally, he too enjoys standing in sunny spots. I think it's important not to blur the facts at hand, which demand criticism on their own, with our own personal presumptions and bigotry. But each to their own.

is this little speech one of these?

I was reading the AL app reviews and someone made the point, 'why would you want to use an Addison Lee and risk the cab being stopped by the police'?
