Evans HQ is a cold cold place. So corporate. The training programme really gives you an idea of their tesco like objectives.

.
I have one of these racks, but it claims that it is only rated to 20kg. In any case if I was going to go on a long ride with it loaded. I would put loctite on all the clamp bolts as the vibrations alone are likely to work them loose.

Birmingham is particularly shite for bike shops, lacking any good independants that have a good range of stock. Evans is probably the better shop there, and I've had a good couple of experiences.
I haven't been there since my brief stint working there. Do they still charge £20 for fixing a puncture?
They are a bunch of grade A cunts. Only cunts and morons can make it to store manager level.

not true, Rich the manager at Evans Manchester was a top bloke and most of the staff there were pretty awesome and knowledgeable too, price matching not a problem. It was a big shock when I went into the London ones and found out why everyone hates Evans so much

I usually find Evans get the job done. A bloke I spoke to there took my bike downstairs to the mechanics to have bar ends I just bought fitted for free.

I've found most of Evans' servicing and repairs etc to be OK, the sales guys on the shop floor are a bit varied though.
The one on Vauxhall Bridge Road should be avoided however. Have had some minor bits of work done there a few times and was shoddy both times. The Cycle Surgery on Victoria Street is a million times better.

I visited the warehouse in Crawley the other day. It was like entering an expensive Halfrauds with a greyness of indoor lighting akin to a 70's hospital corridor.
Not a bike shop. Just a building with bikes in :-(

Its fun standing in front of the gatwick runway though, watching the planes take off over you.

Had a good experience buying a new Evo Mini at Holborn on Sat with pricematch. The guy there had no qualms and put it through fast and efficiently.
Good man.

Why would he have qualms about selling you a lock?

He probably wasn't asked for his postcode.
