Just got back from Malta where these seem to be quite popular! I would like to buy an old schwinn frame and do something similar!
I saw something similar going up Hill Street the other week, flew up there!

I've on old bike in the shed at my parents.
Got a link to the kits? Might be a summer project for me! -

Found a comfortable setup that I hope will last me a while. Thanks to Dan for the bars and Neil for the seatpost and pedals (even though one of the races was full of swarf!)

Saw these stripped down levers yesterday and thought something similar would look good as replacements on my road bike:
(with less anorexic bar tape of course)So I grabbed these for £15
I'd like to run them without hoods and paint the clamp parts black to match the rest of the cockpit setup. Does anyone have a bit of spare gloss black spray paint I could nick?

Why would you want to do that? They look great as is and the nice rubber hoods will be a lot more comfortable than the bare hard cold metal. If you want a le old fashioned drop lever. I can give you one. But it will be shit.

Those bars looks like they have been starving there self
ill take the hoods if you don't want them :)

I thought someone would ask that. I don't ever ride on the hoods cos I have cross top levers fitted well. That means I can run the drop levers quite far down the bend to give me a more comfortable position when braking in the drops.

I have spray paint. (and primer) I fear the results will be ugly though.

Wouldn't the 'clean' look of no brake hoods not look so clean with cross top levers?
-
• #689
Decided to keep the hoods on. Thanks for making me see sense.
I was worried the levers could be overly green but they're not at all! Very happy -

Here is my bike. It's nearly finished.

You got a great deal on them wheels, most people start on those horrid heavy generic deep v fixie wheels. The mavics will stay straight for years and give you good braking.
You need to upgrade cranks though ASAP.

• #692
That's going to look great!

Finished

trade you a dual pivot modern brake for that centre pull.
-
• #695
rat-tastic!
-
• #696
although I have to say that gearing, coupled with just a centre-pull back brake looks lethal

• #697
Just need some new wheels with next months pay cheque and this black beauty will be complete! (Oh, and a Supreme sticker lulz)

looking tidy
