Since this is isn't the genuine bike porn thread, I'll risk the wrath of the forum and post a picture of my Japanese bike:
It's a Samson and I brought it back from Japan in 2010. It's been built up with all new parts and, apart from the tyres for practical purposes, it's all NJS right down to the spokes and spoke lacing.
The pictures are all terrible quality and that odd saddle angle has now been fixed.
The clearances are ridiculous:
It also has the very narrow 110mm rear spacing: -

I thought that seatpost was made for saddles like Brooks' with relatively far backward rails.

The Nitto? It's the narrow rail spacing so will only fit NJS saddles such as the Kashimax. It's definitely not for Brooks!

Thank you! I should really take better photographs though.

Most of the FG bikes I've seen here have been HHSBs, definitely. Don't think I've ever seen an NJS beauty on the street!

(Japanese) friend of mine rides brakeless. NJS frame... with risers...
I've seen a few brakeless rides around recently, actually. Or only a front brake. Makes me wonder if I could get away with removing my rear brake as well, but the size of the potential fine does put me off...

Well alot of that bike isn't njs. But i see what you are heading at. And that is about 37.000.000 are living in Tokyo and all of those cant be a true citizen. So of course some of your friends will be riding breakless but most of them isn't. And that because you aren't allowed....

Jadias, I live in Osaka and was caught riding brakeless. I had to go to the traffic prosecutor 2 weeks later (after spending 3hrs in the police station the day i was caught). By then I had put clip on brakes (ruining my beloved bomber pro) and also wrote a letter apologising and saying i had been unaware of the rules. The prosecutor let me off with no punishment, and said they will keep it on file and said if i am stopped for as much as running a red they will definately punish me next time. Here in Osaka you see a lot of NJS frames on the street but nearly all run at least one brake, and most two. Most of us have gran compe clamp style brakes. I was caught last summer, when the Osaka police really cracked down. I haven't heard of anyone being stopped recently.

It's not in the pictures bit I run a GranCompe clamp on brake on mine. It's not the pretties but it's better than drilling.
ahhhh yeah
