  • That's 5 so far. Alex, have you got a different bike to play on? Otherwise I don't think we'll have enough bikes to play some proper games.

  • I'm going to have to call it off this week then, 5 people and only 2 polo bikes won't hack it. Sorry to everyone who put their name down.

  • Hello! I am new to the forum - I would like to come to the Peckham beginners if it's happening, and a friend too probably. Could I/we borrow a mallet if there are any spares?

  • buuuuuuuuuuuu

  • NO PECKHAM BEGINNERS TONIGHT

RoxM, I'm afraid you'll have to wait till next week to give polo a go, we just didn't have the numbers to get some games together tonight. With the poloaner bike unavailable at the moment it's difficult to let everyone play on a bike set up for polo, I'll try and get some more regular players down next week so we can have a decent number of bikes.

Sorry again guys, please encourage more people to come down and try it and I'll work on getting enough bikes.

  • westway sports centre has beginners sessions on tomorrow night.

  • with two loaner polo bikes

  • Stop rubbing it in :P

  • Beginners sesh at London Fields sat morning avec loaner!

  • Sorry, too busy here to play polo every day... :)

  • Yes poots, Saturday, London Fields is on - would be great to have enough people there for a few throw-ins though. The loaner's gonna be there as well. Who's in? I will be.

  • Will be fitting a rear brake onto my pomp, so it too can be used as a loaner.

  • ^ since when you have a pomp?

He has an entire stable ;)

  • ^ some people just have too much money... what can you do?

  • he deals in them like shares

    on-one pompino

    talk to me(beagle)

  • ^ I can imagine that! Hahahaha...

  • i'm sorry if this is an obvious question but what makes a polo bike different? i had thought that a fixed wheel in a fairly low gear would be suitable (which is what i have...)?

  • Well, the main thing is the low gear (35-50 gear inches approximately), and pretty much everyone plays with a freewheel now. Apart from that it's personal preference, head tube angles, fork rake, dual brake levers, etc. Old mountain bikes are good for beginners, or trick/track frames.

Alex who posted above tried playing on his fixed wheel bike, with a road gear, bullhorns and a front brake. I don't think it was particularly fun, too much concentration going into staying upright instead of playing the game.

  • Samples: http://www.lfgss.com/thread14457.html - just to look at :)

  • So, London Fields, Saturday, 9.30 is on, given that we are more than 3(?) and reasonable weather. Loaner and 1 spare mallet I can provide. Please add yourself to the list.

KenKen: London Fields, the map doesn't show, but it's smack in the middle, pretty hard to miss http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=london%20fields&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
