Not unless you give us all permission, which will be a pain in the arse.

Filthy, filthy weather. Still, had a ball rolling out with the wind and rain at our backs, Wroncog, Benj and I were eating up the tarmac, quite literally when drafting each other. A combination of the rude headwind on the turn, a horse box as wide as the road trundling along at 10mph just as I was finding something approaching a rhythm and a five mile unexpected bonus tour of the finest A roads in Essex deflated my spirit somewhat.
To the chap who guided us back to the planned route and restored my lost spirit , a thousand thank you's....and an apology for not pointing out that pothole you hit.
I fucking LOVE riding bikes.

It's ok, I can open it just not upload it.

Good score for you and Ben too Bigpaintbrush! I rolled in about 38th on the long runners. 4.33. Some discrepancies on our average speeds there Ewan, might not have altered my tyre size come to think of it.

Yup, that's me. I forced myself to do some cleaning and tinkering after the ride, so she's back lookin' sweet as...
Bad luck with the punctures - we were just behind you when you had one fairly early on. I remember doing a sportive in the rain in Kent and getting 4 flats once - I could've wept!
Nice De-Rosa you've got, your friend was on an aluminium Colnago wasn't he?
It's always the wet rides that you get the punctures - at the tour of wessex in 2007 I think I might actually have broken down in tears on my 4th!
The Aluminium Colnago was Regal - also of this parish

So I think we can call this ride a big success and I'll plan to do it next year - all they have to fix is the weather and you luddites need to get Garmins.
I think the smaller sportives like this are better than the big ones, you don't need photography and other nonsense, and there aren't any queues for food or hanging around at the start.

It's normally a lot busier at the start!
Punctures, the detour episode, and a stop to stretch my back before the run in meant we came in over five hours, disappointingly. Next year...

No problem on the tow... and agreed on the hill at the end - it's never that steep on the sunday club run!
Some toerag turned one of the signs round and many riders ended up going the wrong way. My friend and I ended up doing 5 miles out of our way before clinging on to the wheel of someone who knew where they were going. Lovely chap, I'm very grateful for being towed back, though i felt guilty for not taking a turn at the front, battling the wind, but I was fighting cramp by then and it was all I could do to keep up. There is quite a beastly long climb near the end. It is a gentle incline, but I was pretty wiped by the top.
Anyway, great dirty, cold, wet fun. Super route, may well try and make it a weekend trainer...

It's a nice climb normally, I'd guess. You could settle into a pretty decent rhythm - it's a pretty regular incline. Anyway, you made it look easy!
See you next year, if not before...

4th! That'll do, I guess.
Looks like you actually came first:

Guess they mistakenly had a couple of short-route riders down for the long route. Chapeau!

:) yay!
I half think that happened last year (3:21, 21.1mph average ffs), but they didn't email around to check up so I'll never know. -

glad I checked this!
7th overall isnt bad I reckon. First time ever doing anything like this - plus I lost some serious minutes through the sign malarkey. I ended up meeting some nice guys (Sascha and Dan - I think).
Came home with them under garmin guidance. Gotta get me one of those. Especially after draining my phone getting directions there, and then getting lost getting home with no way of telling where I was other than sense of feel.
was pretty shattered when I got home. put my bike in a room covered in mud (cow mud no doubt). now it's all dried and disastrous. booo.

As there seemed to be quite a bit of interest last year, I thought I'd give a heads-up that our 6th Easter Classic takes place again on Easter Monday, 1st April 2013. As usual, there are two routes on offer - 112km and 54km - starting from Fairlop Waters Country Park. See below for route details and HQ location. Both routes will be fully sign posted, and will take you through the quiet country lanes of Essex. The longer distance will pass through the villages of Good and High Easter, and features a feed station with toliets where you'll also be served free hot/cold drinks and our legendary cake and other wholesome goodies.
Those who complete either route will be rewarded with a seasonal gift, and you can relax at the fully licenced HQ after the ride.
Entry is £12 in advance for either route via the British Cycling website - https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/85162/London-Phoenix-Easter-Classic#summary

The 54km one sounds doable (adding a good 45km to get there)...
Know what the elevation profile for this is?
