Speaking as someone whose primary sporting interest is rugby who quite likes watching the odd game of football I really don't think that there should too much of a hurry to introduce goal line technology. I cannot emphasise this enough, but I cannot fucking stand it when lazy or unconfident refs "go upstairs" to the TMO. It makes the game disjointed and if a team is on the ropes gives them a chance to regather, not to mention the fact that more cameras are needed with people to operate them this cost inevitably gets passed on to the people who stump up their hard earned beer tokens in order to see a match which can then be spoiled by having to sit around waiting for someone to watch multiple videos trying to figure out what has gone on.
All sport is a human spectacle, and part of that is the fact that the people who officiate are not infallible and will make mistakes. Yes it is shit if your team concedes a goal/try/points (delete as appropriate) because the ref has cocked up however as a professional sportsman it is your job to HTFU take it on the chin and get on with it, and lets face it nine times out of ten the team that deserves to win will normally go on to do so no matter how shit the ref is.
