  • Some news from Hub Jub.

    Hi chaps,

Will from HUBJUB here. I'm not a forum member, so David has kindly reposted this message.

I've decided to stop doing Hubjub. The last couple of years have been a bit of a struggle. Several of you will know about the credit card scam which wiped out HUBJUB's operating cash reserves in 2010, but in fact trading conditions have been steadily worsening since 2009 and I would have been reviewing my situation even if the scam hadn't happened. The simple truth is that I will be able to make more money and have more fun pursuing other projects.

A last shipment from Phil Wood is due in shortly. After I have sent out the various custom orders from that, I will settle down to selling off existing stock while I get on with new work.

These changes have several implications for forum members.

    1. No more custom US or NJS orders. Sorry -- Elvis has left the building.

    2. The stock that is on the site now is going fairly fast, so I recommend grabbing what you need. I'm sorry, but no amazing closing down sale is on the cards. I already paid off most of the suppliers and have cash earmarked for the remainder, so I'm under no particular constraint to do so.

    3. I will be doing a last 'Hubjub Nights' on eBay in late summer to clear out all the spares, seconds and unusual stock. If you'd like to know about the stuff that isn't on the site, drop me a note at sales@hubjub.co.uk. I'd rather not have to answer several hundreds of e-mails about NJS expander bolts, but I'll be delighted to circulate a list.

    4. Still haven't fully resolved the Pitlock thing, but I'm still actively pursuing. (See next repost.)

    5. The biggie. HUBJUB is up for sale as a trading entity. You won't make a living out of it. However, if you already have a bricks&mortar bikeshop, this is an opportunity to add a high-traffic fixed gear specialist mailorder division with a good reputation and excellent supplier relations. Serious enquiries only please.

Many thanks to all of you on the forum for your support over the years. Your letters and photos have been a joy, and I still do 'Will from Hubjub is God' as a party piece.

    Best, W.
