  • Or get a different stem perhaps?

  • Or get a different stem perhaps?

yeah a few people have suggested that, but trying to keep it as original and authentic as possible

  • By ordering a modern hubs?

  • sturmey archer hubs arent modern, i just added the fixed gear element

  • I have a modern Sturmey hub...........

  • i mean as in theyve been around for a long time, like over 100 years. obviously they have modern hubs but the concept has been around for decades...

  • So you've brought a 100 year old hub?

  • ...no ive bought a new hub, in the style of the original 3 speed, but fixed geared

  • bit of a digression, but anyone ever tried one of these....

I remember them from the early 90's but have not seen them since,

As I recall they use a sturmey shifter to engage pins in your freewheel pinning the sprocket to the body - very elegant....
presumably you need to be spinning pretty smoothly to shift from free to fixed!

If you can get hold of one, they can be fitted to any track hub.

So you've brought a modern hub.

  • I have a NuVinci n360 at home for a utility bike. I was reading the instructions, and it struck me that if the freewheel could be removed. You could have a 360% endless fixed gear range. Fecking heavy thing to put on something as minimal as a fixed gear bike though.

  • So you've brought a modern hub.

    Whats your point?

    I haven't brought anything, I bought a hub.
