  • How does his height have any bearing on the matter? Insofar as it does, tall people are less likely to have toe overlap as they usually ride frames with longer top tubes, without fully compensating for the increased front centres with longer cranks.

    He (and his actual builder Peter Hare) made a lot of frames when things were quiet and hung them up in a room above the shop. People would go and order a frame, and if there was one anything like it upstairs they would paint it and pretend it was custom. Nicely built frames, but the man himself was a dreadful bullshitter.
