Wanted: Road Bike

I am about to complete a Lands End to John O'Groats ride for Diabetes UK and only have a mountain bike to do it on. As you forumites will know that is not good as the gearing, seating, suspension etc is going to make this a very long ride.

I am either looking to loan or buy a road bike but I am limited on how much I can spend as the money I use for the bike will have to be deducted from what I manage to donate to the charity.

I am happy to collect from anywhere in the country and if it is a loan then I would ideally need it from as soon as possible until the middle of June.

Any advice about the route, where to stay, what to take etc would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you hire a bike from a bike hire shop, mention that it's for charity and strike up a deal with advertising so you can get it gratis?

Is there a bike hire shop list or is it a case of searching the net?
