• #3
No! I agree it seems somewhat subdued this time round.

Ps I also had a declined email. Glad I'm able to assist with Marshal duties to compensate instead .....

Is there a thread for this already?
The whole forum seems very quiet about this years run. Have I committed some awful social faux pas in bringing it up?
Probably because it's owt to do with us anymore ;)

Lots of people are now tweeded out and those who've wanted to participate have already done so a few times.
Sadly I was unlucky in the lottery ballot this year so will be missing my first.
It is a fun day out.

I got my 'sorry old chap' email last night too. 500 participants is just too few. The organisers need to find a way of extending to many more. There is enough interest to support a much bigger event.

Me and my beau have places, looking forward to it I am.

shoreditch, the event is limited to the number it is, because that is the number the organisers insurance will support, and also the number that means that the ride can progress without the need for a police escort or police presence of any kind.
The organisers are trying to have more than one Tweed Run a year, but demand will always outstrip the limited places available.
The Tweed Run has been a fantastically run event and part of that is due to the limited numbers, and the interaction that occurs between participants on the day.

Then, let's get The Met in tweeds, Cornelius!

Yep, tweed is a state of mind.
Been stocking up on RL tweed for the family all winter.
Now we'll only get wear it together as spectators, with spectators.

• #13
whats wrong with wearing anyway?
-
• #14
I can think of LOADS of reasons never to wear tweed.
Smelling of piss is one of them.

One more person wearing tweed is one less person wearing Topman jeans and t-shirts with things printed onto the chest.

Got plenty of tweed, owned before 2009, which is worn often.
Coordinated outfits would be on the borderline of acceptability at the Tweed Run.
But I'd never walk down the street with the family in matching ensembles.

Given how much you wank over 'vintage' bikes this doesn't fully compute.
