Organising cycle training through work

Posted on
  • Hello all, I'm hoping you can offer me some advice. Sorry in advance for the long post.

My workplace is unwilling to stump up any money towards a cycle-to-work purchase scheme of any sort, but I may be able to get some funds to go towards cycle training. I'm aware that most boroughs offer this for free (including the one I'm based in) but I was wondering if there are particular cycle trainers or companies that you would all recommend?

Also, any advice on how to drum up interest for this sort of thing besides sending out mass e-mails? I've been speaking to those who I know cycle at work and everyone is keen on cycle training, but it would be nice to reach some people who may not have considered it as an option before as well.

One of the other offices is getting a mechanic in to check over bikes, but I would rather have someone come in to teach us how to do basic bike maintanence ourselves, even stuff like how to lock up your bike properly or how to choose the right bike for you. Recommendations again would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help, I'd really love to be able to get more people cycling to work, or even just consider it as an option.
