It's also a massive store of images which Facebook can use as it sees fit, if I understand Veeb's reference to their standard T's and C's.
Getty has to remunerate the photographers that took the shots, with Instagram Facebook has to give them a digital pat on the head.
Plus, now that it is Android also, millions of new images will be uploaded every day.
Yes the majority will be of a moodily lit coffee or the owners cat, but there will be some decent ones there, and they'll be monetised sooner rather than later I imagine.
